Masters of the Ancient Tongue, Wizards bend the world to their will. Wizardry, like the clerical arts, had been thought lost to time. Within the last 20 years though it has mysteriously returned. What this means is unclear, but what is clear is this… If you wish to learn the arts of a wizard, it will take many years before you reach your full potential.

Tips:

Stay Away: Early on you are very, very weak. Chose a ranged weapon to use when you run out of spells. Your next weapon choice won’t be for another 6 levels!

It’s Not Running Away, It’s A Tactical Withdrawl: Keep a spell ready incase you need to get away. Your party may hate the fact you run away in the beginning, but once you get high enough to start pouring out damage they’ll be thankful you lived.

Rock, Paper, Magic Resist: Some monsters have magic resist, but they most likely don’t have club resist. Summoning spells and those that affect the area around the monster are key to defeating these stubborn beasts.

Hey! Watch Where You Are Firing That Thing: Aoe is one of the greatest strengths of this class, but it is also the greatest weakness. Don’t memorize all aoe, if the party gets engaged in the melee your allies won’t like that you cast web in the middle of them.

Body Building Mages: Every good mage has an unusually high constitution to balance out the low base hp. Why do most mages have a high constitution? Dunno. Maybe it’s all that magic dust they inhale reading old tomes.
